NOVEMBER Why Home Sales Bounce Back After Presidential Elections

With the 2024 Presidential election upon us, you might be wondering what impact, if any, it’s having on the housing market. Let’s break it down. Election Years Bring a Temporary Slowdown In any given year, home sales slow down slightly in the fall. It’s a typical, seasonal trend. However, according to  data  from  BTIG , in election years there’s usually a slightly larger dip in home sales in the month leading up to Election Day ( see graph ): Why? Uncertainty. Many consumers hold off on making major decisions or purchases while they wait to see how the election will play out. It’s a pattern that’s shown up time and time again, and it's particularly apparent for buyers and sellers in the housing market. This year is no different. A recent survey from  Redfin  found that  23% of potential first-time homebuyers said they’re waiting until after the election to buy . That’s nearly a quarter of first-time buyers hitting the pause button, likely due to the same feelings of uncertainty. H

As a native of Winston-Salem, NC, I love introducing folks to this great city I call home.  I particularly enjoy  the rare combination of big-city culture and small-town charm.

Several years ago, my husband, Allen Gentry, and I moved across the Yadkin River to a  bedroom community of Winston-Salem … Advance, NC.  When we are not “chillin”  on our screened porch, we are taking advantage of the local mouthwatering southern cuisine, Old Salem, Tanglewood Park, or a sunny afternoon in one of our  local vineyards.  And then,       when it is time for a road trip, we are on the way to the beach, Charleston, Key  West or Blowing Rock.

I began my “loooong” real estate career in 1989 and am very lucky that I began a career that I have loved so much from Day 1.  My greatest passions include meeting so many new clients friends and using technology and innovation to maximize and provide extraordinary customer service to my buying and selling clients friends.

My philosophy has always been that my clients are not just my “job”, but that I am a part of their journey    toward achieving their real estate dreams.  And when     we reach that happy    ending and they achieve that real estate dream, it is not the end of our story together.          When a past client needs a painter, plumber or electrician — or ideas for vacation — even several years after closing, they still give me a call.

And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

My story starts with growing up in the small community of Elkin, NC.  During the late sixties, it was pretty much like growing up on the set of the movie “American Graffiti”.  It was a good time and place for a teenager interested in cars and law enforcement.

I started my law enforcement career at an early age and retired from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office with 30 years service at the rank of Assistant Sheriff.  Most of my career was in investigations or as an administrator.  One of my high profile homicide cases produced a NY Times best selling book and a made for tv movie.  I finished up this stage of my life with nine years of service as a Special Deputy US Marshal with a security group for the federal courts.

I received my Real Estate Broker’s License in 2003.  This decision has truly turned into a rewarding event for me.     The opportunity to assist buyers and sellers did wonders to restore my faith in human nature.  Seeing the happiness and sharing the joy when someone obtains their dream home has been inspiring.  Working with my wife, Pam Boyle makes everyday a new opportunity!

On a personal note, I have never outgrown my love of cars  or the beach.  There is nothing better for a sunny day than cruising the Blue Ridge Parkway, Ocean Boulevard or  simply to a vineyard with the top down.

Truly………………………Life is good.”
