Moving into a new home can be exciting yet challenging. Use this helpful guide to make your move a little easier.

Make a checklist and timeline
Create a to-do list of necessary moving tasks, such as getting your packing supplies and scheduling utilities for your new place, and specify when to complete each step.

Take Inventory
Note what to keep, donate, or toss. Place what you want to bring with you in carefully labeled boxes, and find a new home for what you don’t.

Secure your valuables 
Separately box high-value or sentimental items like jewelry or family heirlooms. You may want to keep them with you to better ensure they aren’t lost or damaged.

Consider hiring a mover
If you need assistance, get estimates from at least two moving companies to compare their services and fees before selecting one.

Ready and must-haves
Put items you may need on moving day in a separate bag for easy access. These may include scissors for opening boxes, a phone charger, a first aid kit, cleaning supplies, toiletries, a change of clothes, and clean bedding.
